Axial Flux Motors: A Revolutionary Approach

Evolito’s axial flux motors are the smallest and lightest in their performance class. Our e-motors use low volumes of dense materials to yield higher torque and power densities than comparable motor architectures, particularly at speeds best suited to propulsion.

Evolito is enabling the aerospace industry to leave behind legacy radial flux motor technology that has been a barrier to the electrification of the aerospace market. Our unique Axial Flux technology is yolkless and coupled with a segmented magnet architecture to reduce weight and increase performance. Additionally, our motors are developed with both 1×3 and true 2×3 phase variations, to allow for increased safety.

Our electric axial flux motors are suitable across the aerospace sector, for rotorcraft applications such as eVTOLs, UAMs, Helicopters, as well as single or multi-propeller fixed-wing, general aviation aircraft.

D250: Low Torque, High Speed

Our D250 motors are designed for both high and low speed applications, and can be coupled with a reduction stage to achieve required torque propellor speeds, or directly matched to propellor speeds, removing the need for a reduction stage for lower power applications.

The compact design is ideal for aircraft where either low speed, low power or high speed and high power is required, from a very low mass electric motor.

The D250 features best in class peak power density of 28 kW/kg, within the compact design that weighs only ~8.5kg and measuring 315mm x 126mm, enabling architectures with challenging packaging requirements.

Evolito D250 Axial Flux Motor

D500: Mid Torque, Mid Speed

Our D500 motors are designed for both mid torque and mid speed applications, and can be coupled with a reduction stage to achieve required torque propellor speeds. Additionally, the D500 can be directly matched to propellor speeds, without the need for a reduction stage for lower power applications.

The D500 features leading power density of 12 kW/kg. The compact design of Evolito’s axial flux motor means the dimensions are just 375mm (D) x 128mm (L), with a low mass of ~30kg.

The D500 can be stacked for increased torque and power up to 1 megawatt.

Our D1500 motors are designed for high torque, low speed applications where the motor is connected directly to a propellor, without a redundancy stage.

The D1500 features best in class torque density of > 40 Nm/kg, where dimensions are 440mm (D) x 110mm (L).

The D1500 has evolved from a flight proven pedigree with over 1000+ hours of inflight testing.
